Arizona has officially passed HB 2164, also known as the Healthy School Act. This legislation focuses on limiting ultra-processed foods in school meal programs and encourages the use of simpler ingredients and higher-quality food options. These requirements will take effect beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.
What this means for you:
Nutrition One began preparing for this shift when HB 2164 was first proposed in January 2025. Since then, our menu development, vendor selection, and product review processes have been continuously evaluated to align with the legislation’s requirements.
Our goal is to ensure legislative changes feel seamless. We’re proud to share that Nutrition One has been fully compliant with HB 2164 since its proposal, proactively removing all banned ultra-processed foods from our menus well ahead of the effective date.

One of the most common findings during Administrative Reviews is incomplete or undocumented required Professional Standards training. In many cases, staff are unaware of what training is required, or that free resources are available.
To help prevent findings and support your program, we want to highlight the training tools provided by ADE.
Why this matters to you:
Professional Standards training is required for School Food Authorities operating under the NSLP. Proper training protects your program, strengthens operations, and reduces compliance risk during reviews.
Nutrition One believes that when program operators have strong administrative and operational understanding, everyone benefits. Our team is always here to help you navigate these requirements and connect you with the right resources.
