Summer Food Service Program

Just because school is out for summer, doesn’t mean lunch is. Nutrition One proudly serves lunch over the summer in regulation with the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

The 2023 Nutrition One Summer Food Service Program locations and dates will be released later this year.

Sites

A site is the physical location, approved by the state agency, where SFSP meals are served during a supervised time period.  Sites can be classified as open, closed enrolled, camp migrant, and National Youth Sports Program.

Why register your Site?

The SFSP can be completely free for sites, you just host.  Sites are essential partners in the SFSP allowing communities to grow, strengthen and fight food insecurity.  Nutrition one connects organizations without financial and administrative abilities to sponsors who:

  • Pay for the SFSP
  • Attend your state agency’s training
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers
  • Monitor your site
  • Ensure that your SFSP are sustainable through fundraising, partnerships, and recruitment

Site Locations:

Sites may be located in a variety of settings, including:

  • Schools
  • Recreation centers

Sponsors

Sponsors must be organizations that are fully capable of managing a food service program.  Sponsors must follow regulations and be responsible financially and administratively.

Why register as a Sponsor?

SFSP reimburses approved sponsors for serving meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines.  Sponsors receive payments from the USDA, through their state agency, based on the number of meals they serve.  All meals are served free.  As a sponsor you will:

  • Attend your state agency’s training
  • Prepare claims for riembursment
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers
  • Monitor your site
  • Ensure that your SFSP are sustainable through fundraising, partnerships, and recruitment
