Nutrition One’s journey began in 2000 when Julia Schroyer, our CEO, teamed up with Kali Marconett, our Corporate Chef, after they both graduated from culinary school. Julia had founded All About Catering Co., where she and Kali catered to a variety of clients, including brides, corporate events, and even a few Super Bowl parties.
However, in 2010, when the economy took a downturn, weddings and events became scarce, and the catering business faced significant challenges. It was during this time that Julia and Kali were introduced to the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). What began as an opportunity to keep their business afloat quickly turned into a passion for something much greater.
They fell in love with the mission of providing nutritious meals to students in need. After several years of juggling both catering and serving these vital programs, Julia made the bold decision to close All About Catering Co. in 2016. Her new goal was clear: fight food insecurity one meal at a time. This marked the birth of Nutrition One, and since then, we haven’t looked back

Nutrition One has grown significantly since its inception. From serving our first school district to now partnering with over 72 schools across Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, San Luis, and Lake Havasu, our impact continues to expand. We provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks, helping to fight food insecurity throughout Arizona—and soon, beyond.
As we look to the future, Nutrition One is committed to continuing our growth and expanding our reach. We are constantly exploring new ways to innovate our services, enhance sustainability, and ensure that more students have access to the nutritious meals they need to succeed. Our journey is far from over, and we’re excited about the positive impact we continue to make.
In 2010, the Hunger-Free Kids Act was passed by Congress, ensuring that every American child has access to the nutrition they need to support their growing bodies.
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) became the gold standard for school meals nationwide. For the first time in 30 years, the USDA had the opportunity to implement reforms that set new, healthier standards for school lunch and breakfast programs, providing nutritious meals at little to no cost for students.
At Nutrition One, we’re proud to create USDA-compliant programs and menus that make school lunch exciting and enjoyable. Using menu creation technology, we ensure that every meal meets NSLP standards while offering customized menus tailored to each school’s unique needs.
We strictly follow national guidelines, including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), to ensure that every meal we serve is balanced, nutritious, and federally compliant. Our team stays ahead of the curve by continuously updating our practices to meet all USDA requirements, ensuring that our meals support the health and well-being of every student.

From accommodating dietary restrictions to creating menus that reflect student preferences and cultural influences, we make sure every meal is both enjoyable and nourishing.

We partner with local food vendors to bring fresh, high-quality ingredients to our kitchens, supporting local economies while providing the best possible meals for our students. Long lasting partnerships, with vendors like Shamrock Foods, allows us to source quality products at a competitive price, lowering your schools cost per meal.
Our relationship with schools goes beyond delivering meals. We provide ongoing support and resources, assign dedicated Customer Relations Specialists to each school, and offer educational tools to help students understand the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.
