Kitchen Team Member Job Description

Job Description:

We’re looking for a Kitchen Team Member who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help prepare school meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and other federal child nutrition programs. This role is perfect for someone who values cleanliness, safety, has a knack for following precise instructions, and values services and culture through a commitment to servant leadership.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accurately follow directions and process instructions when preparing and packaging food.
  • Understand and learn USDA meal patterns to correctly prepare foods in proper amounts.
  • Work efficiently on a fast-paced, high-yield production line to meet daily targets.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards throughout food prep, service, and cleanup.
  • Help keep our kitchen and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Assist in managing food packaging disposal and recycling.
  • Prepare food in accordance with our HACCP plans to ensure safety and prevent contamination.
  • Occasionally finish the workday serving meals directly at schools.

Requirements
must-haves:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Handlers Card.
  • Committed to starting early and punctual attendance.
  • Strong communication skills

nice-to-Haves:

  • A valid AZ driver’s license with a clean driving record is beneficial.
  • DPS-issued Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • 1-year prior customer service experience.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaker.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform routine physical activities including standing longer than 6 hours, walking, squatting, lift 50 pounds, exposure to extreme heat and/or cold, operate, use food service equipment and drive company vehicles, when applicable.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at Nutrition One’s & customer’s facilities.

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • Federal Holidays & Weekends off
  • Early Mornings – 8 hour shifts starting from 2:00 – 5:00 a.m.

*Working with schools, hours may decrease during summer and winter/fall break*

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 – $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
