Job Summary

The N1 Hot Kitchen Lead is responsible for receiving instructions directly from the N1 Kitchen director and Corporate Chef. With these orders, they will facilitate the daily production of hot food components for ~16,000 meals. The Hot Kitchen Lead will coordinate with the other Kitchen Lead(s), determining daily tasks list, staffing, workflow, and expediting of products in the required order for delivery. The N1 Hot Kitchen Lead can provide guidance and leadership to their kitchen co-workers and will help with on-the-job training of new hot kitchen employees. Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Creates procedures to maximize food quality.
  • Directly reports to the N1 Kitchen Director & Corporate Chef; facilitates smooth hot kitchen operation.
  • Directs hot kitchen team members to timely completion of tasks.
  • Ensuring staff is prepared for next day’s tasks before leaving each day.
  • Facilitates the preparation of meals for tastings/special events.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to N1’s HACCP Plan & SOPs.
  • Follows N1 recipes to ensure accuracy of work product each day.
  • Keeps track of hot kitchen staff’s times via ADP and approves hours as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Safely prepare hot food for children with food allergies and restrictions (knowledge of “GF/DF/etc labels)
  • Will gain knowledge of meal patterns: NSLP, SBP, CACFP, etc.
  • Remains positive in the face of repetitive tasks; acts as a company culture ambassador and boosts morale.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Understands and upholds company handbook.

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years prior kitchen preparation experience.
  • Basic knowledge of convection ovens, pressure kettle & emulsifiers.
  • Capable team management in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Committed and dependable for early morning opening shift. (Start time ~2-3am M-F)
  • Manager Level ServeSafe Certificate
  • Detail-Oriented and Solutions-based decisions.
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Read, write, and comprehend English to receive instructions and read N1 documents.
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform routine physical activities including standing longer than 6 hours, walking, squatting, lift 50 pounds, exposure to extreme heat and/or cold, operate and use food service equipment; drive company vehicle to fulfill job duties, when applicable.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s & customer’s facilities.
  • Can withstand environment and maintain focus with a high noise level and considerable sensory stimulation.

Job Preferences:

  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaker
  • DPS-issued, Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Has a valid AZ driver’s license, as well as maintaining a clean driving record.

Salary Range:

            FLSA Classification –Exempt: $45,000-$60,000
