Job Summary

N1’s Hot Kitchen Prep team members are responsible for daily operation of the N1 hot production kitchen. The hot meals prepared in the N1 hot kitchen are served to children under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and other federal child nutrition programs. Our Hot Kitchen team uses all manner of commercial equipment: ovens, blenders, knives, and can openers and expedites heated/cooked food components to the production assembly line(s). Hot Kitchen team members properly heat/cook foods, ensuring hot foods are kept out of the “danger zone”. Reports to the Kitchen Director with scheduling, time-off requests, and information regarding handbook policies, ect. Will report to the Hot Kitchen Lead regarding the immediate hot kitchen task at hand. The Hot Kitchen Prep’s vision is to change lives and shape culture through a commitment to servant leadership.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Positive approach to daily tasks that improves Company culture.
  • Proper hot food-handling according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Interprets N1 documents to accurately package food items.
  • Helps control the pace of food being expedited to production assembly line.
  • Prepare hot food for children with food allergies and sensitivities.
  • Basic knowledge of convection ovens, pressure kettle & immersion blenders.
  • Completes tasks under strict time benchmarks.
  • Assists with preparing meals for tastings.
  • Maintains professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the N1 Handbook
  • Understands and upholds company handbook.

 

Job Requirements

  • Has current Food Handlers Card
  • Basic knowledge of convection ovens, pressure kettle & emulsifiers.
  • 2+ years prior kitchen preparation experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Detail-oriented, solutions-based problem solving.
  • Committed and dependable for early morning opening shift, starting ~2-3am
  • Possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Read, write, and comprehend English to receive instructions and read N1 documents.
  • Positive, team-based approach.
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform routine physical activities including sitting or standing longer than 6 hours, walking, squatting, lift 50 pounds, exposure to extreme heat and/or cold, operate and use food service equipment.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s & customer’s facilities.
  • Can withstand environment and maintain focus with a high noise level and considerable sensory stimulation.

Job Preference

  • Bilingual Spanish-speaker
